The Team

Our support workers are very carefully selected during our recruitment process. When selecting staff, we are looking for a number of essential criteria. Our interview process is probably one of the most unique in the country. We advertise for our staff , stating exactly what people we are looking for. Then we arrange a staff recruitment day, this is opportunity for staff to provide presentations to the group of prospective employees. After the days presentation where each candidate has had the opportunity to tell the group setting about themselves and experience then the management will select individuals suitable for the interview process.

During the presentation day the director of the company and the human resources director are present. The day will begin with an initial introduction to spectrum healthcare. The director will talk about our services. He will discuss what we are looking for in a support worker. The days presentations will begin by prospective support workers being asked questions within a group setting after each presentation. Always in accordance with the data protection act).

By selecting staff this way in preparation for interview we can evaluate the individual and assess their knowledge of our client group. During the day individuals will be selected for interview. Those who are not selected for interview will be advised the reasons and encouraged to re- apply when they have gained more experience and knowledge elsewhere. At spectrum healthcare our training department is not just open to our employees but all employees of other care establishments. We will endevour to train and educate anyone who has an interest in autism or mental health. The following desirable criteria:
  • Experience in the care sector
  • Use of own vehicle covered by business use insurance
  • Flexibility
  • Willingness to learn and develop onto an QCF qualification/diploma

We carry out a total of 3 professional/personal reference checks and an enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) disclosure on all successful applicants. We then provide a full induction and ongoing support.
